Help make more adoptions possible

Please take a moment to sign this petition. For one year (2010, I believe) adoption expenses (up to $13,000) were refundable. From my friends who were able to do this, it was a lot of submitting receipts, waiting, submitting receipts again...but they did get a portion of their money back. Aside from 2010, there has been an adoption tax credit since 1997, much different than a refund, trust me. We were able to use the credit in 2009, for our 2008 adoption. Taxes are confusing to me, but the way our accountant explained it is that the credit helps offset any taxes you owe, and then what's left rolls over to the next year.

For most middle class families like us, a "typical" adoption that costs $20,000-$30,000 is something that has to be saved for, budgeted for, and isn't possible more than once, or twice at the most. Should these children with no homes remain in foster care or in an orphanage because a family willing and able to adopt a child can't afford it?

That was more of a rhetorical question, by the way.
