One of those days

I was trying to get Lilli ready for mom's group at church this morning. (She gets to play with a bunch of other kids and has a great time.) I laid out a shirt, hoodie, jeans, socks and boots for her and asked her to get dressed. She said she wanted to wear a pretty dress. (Have I mentioned her penchant for pretty dresses? I think it was a few posts back.) I told her that it was 45 degrees outside and windy, so she would wear what I had picked out. She proceeded to throw herself down on the floor, kicking and screaming.

I told her she could go to her room, and when she was dressed in the clothes I had picked out, she could come out. She came out nearly 2 hours later. But she was wearing the clothes! (She also came out 2 times before that- once wearing a sundress and a dozen hairbows, and once in her footed pj's with a tutu, asking if she could have some candy now.)

Needless to say, we missed mom's group. I was disappointed, to say the least. But I stood my ground. Instead I got started on cleaning my house and preparing for my friend's visit from Texas next week.

Then I had an iced coffee and a brownie for lunch. It's been one of those days!

Wow, I'm impressed that you were so strong with her. Good for you. Parenting is the most challenging job on the planet but absolutely the most rewarding. You will see the blessings of the time you put in now (or so I'm told) ;-) Thanks again for being so real. Bless you April!
